The role of the children’s department of the Shepherdstown Public Library is to provide a “Gateway to Learning.” In this spirit, the SPL Children’s Library maintains a close relationship with the schools and provides literacy-based activities and resources for the children and young adults in our community.

Regular Story Hours/Library Visits

Dates and times for the following services will be adjusted, as necessary, for COVID-19.

Beginning each year in September and January, our library offers a weekly story time for each of these groups: “Lap Babies,” “Time for Twos,” and “Three-Five Year Old.”

Group Visits

The library welcomes visits from homeschoolers, scout troops, preschools, Shepherdstown Elementary School students, and field trips from other schools. If your group would like to schedule a story time or other library visit, please contact tish.wiggs@martin.lib.wv.us.
